I've lived in New Orleans for over 6 years. I love this humid bug-infested swamp of debauchery. The thick soup of air that we swim in and breathe. It moves me like no other place.

Art

My artistic influences include Edward Gorey, Brom, Edvard Munch, Frieda Kahlo, H. R. Giger, Salvador Dali, Modigliani, Gustav Klimt and Hieronymus Bosch.

I have some formal schooling in art from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in San Francisco.

My technique for my drawings is something I learned in college, when I was fresh out of high school. I attended Evergreen Valley College, in San Jose, California. I had an awesome art teacher, Barbera Bouchard, who taught me that drawing is not about making lines, it's a series of shadings. I've since taken her advice and ran with it. I do NOT use traditional erasers, though I do use kneaded gummy erasers, but only for blotting excess graphite. I use 4B through 9B drawing pencils. The softer pencils help me achieve the deep contrast that I like so much.

Writing

I am deep in the midst of writing a book. It's a twisted book of fiction called Alice Lethe.

Books

I'm an avid reader and book collector. Some of my favorite authors include Frank Herbert, Cormac McCarthy, Borges, Philip K. Dick, Albert Camus, Jean-Paul Sartre, Poppy Z. Brite, Lewis Carroll, Jean Cocteau, Nietzsche and of course Poe.

Music

I DJ at the Whirling Dervish, and have also DJ'ed at the Dragons Den for Shadow Gallery and Denizens' Lounge (a regular event pre-Katrina) at the Uptown Z'otz. I play darkwave which consists of everything from industrial, goth, and ambient music.

I'm sure I've forgotten some.
